The mission of Project Backyard Brevard is to provide a central location that allows individuals, organizations and businesses to share information about protecting and preserving the beauty of Brevard County, Florida.

About This Website: Project Backyard Brevard was first developed in 2003 by Betsy S. Franz, a local writer whose goal was to educate and encourage homeowners to create more environmentally friendly landscapes. In 2011, she transformed the structure of the website to include more aspects of the environment, and turned the enterprise from a one-woman endeavor into a co-op, encouraging participation by anyone who wants to share information about environmental protection for Brevard. The co-op structure is intended to be created, updated and supported by its members.
