Irrigate Efficiently
It is estimated that more than half of residential water use occurs
outdoors. By making changes to some of our landscaping practices,
we can all make a difference in water conservation.
Here are some suggestions to reduce the amount of water used for
your home landscape:
- Group plants by their water requirements. Use drought tolerant
plants
- Cut down on the amount of lawn in your landscape. Turfgrass
is a water hog.
- Water only when plants begin to droop. Then, water before dawn.
- Monitor irrigation systems. Are you watering the street or driveway?
Do you use a rain sensor, soaker hoses and drip irrigation?
- Mulch to retain moisture.
- Use rain barrels.
- Check the additional irrigation information from the left menu.
