Irrigation Information

Irrigate Efficiently

It is estimated that more than half of residential water use occurs outdoors. By making changes to some of our landscaping practices, we can all make a difference in water conservation.

Here are some suggestions to reduce the amount of water used for your home landscape:

  • Group plants by their water requirements. Use drought tolerant plants
  • Cut down on the amount of lawn in your landscape. Turfgrass is a water hog.
  • Water only when plants begin to droop. Then, water before dawn.
  • Monitor irrigation systems. Are you watering the street or driveway? Do you use a rain sensor, soaker hoses and drip irrigation?
  • Mulch to retain moisture.
  • Use rain barrels.
  • Check the additional irrigation information from the left menu.
